One line from one flimsy old book haunts me: The title of it was The Cider House Rules and the line was, "I want to be of use." I read it about four years ago, and if that line isn't life-changing you're either dead or already making yourself as useful as you can - aren't you?

Hopefully my blog is "of use" to you - that's why it's here, after all. I've written it almost entirely for people who want to quit AOL. If you don't think it's useful, drop me a line and tell me why not.

As of 4-20-09 comments are open to the public and to my LiveJournal friends with no screening. If anything changes on my end (I move/die/quit blogging/whatever), or if anyone messes up on their end by being a poor or unwanted commenter, the comment policy below goes back into effect immediately.

Comment policy: Every once in a while I get tired of receiving and/or making comments so at those times I'll screen or disable them. Comments on most of anti_aol's older pages are permanently disabled to keep spambots away. If you're not into commenting or if comments are disabled send me an email instead. I love email, seriously, and I'm behind by only a few dozen on any given day, so what's a few more?

Email: I do not - and cannot - personally respond to all of the email I get, but I read and appreciate every one of them. Thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog and to write an email to me.

If your email is about issues you're having with AOL check my blog for a response, since I often write a post instead of, or in addition to, personally replying to you - but I will always ask you if publishing your email is OK before I go ahead and do so.

To protect your privacy I do not use your real name on my blog unless I ask you if I can and you don't object.

Email addresses that are published on the Web are prime spam targets so I redact all email addresses automatically (for the record, no one had ever asked me not to redact their email address).
